It was great to see everyone in person once again at our launch event, Enterprise Support: Easton, at the Easton Community Centre on 19th October! The event was organised by North and East Bristol Enterprise Support (NEBES), in partnership with Eastside Community Trust, providing free in-person business support to people looking to start or grow their own business.

We heard inspirational talks from business owners and entrepreneurs from various walks of life and industries. East Bristol entrepreneurs Jack Jordan, from Cafe Des Amis and Alice Ballantine Dykes from Mama Coaching spoke about the incredible benefits of owning their own businesses, , as well as sharing the different challenges they have both faced over the years.. When asked for their biggest piece of advice for new business owners, both entrepreneurs stressed the importance of access to business support and building up a local business network.

After an introduction to the free business support on offer from NEBES, Easton Councillor Barry Parsonsspoke about the huge value of business within Easton, and endorsed the NEBES programme. Barry said “For me as a local Councillor it’s been really valuable to hear about peoples’ barriers to starting a business. I think it’s fantastic what YTKO are doing to give people the confidence and knowledge to be able to take that step forward.”

Stacy Yelland, CEO of Eastside Community Trust said: “I really enjoyed the access to NEBES in Easton today. It’s been really exciting to see some of the business ideas for the area. It’s also been lovely to have a face-to-face event with the entrepreneurs of Easton and Lawrence Hill after so long!.”

If you could not attend the Easton event, don’t worry! We will be hosting a number of follow-up events in various community centres around North Bristol which you can attend, network and find out about the free support available to you.

We’ll be holding a drop-in business advice session at Easton Community Centre on 28 October, 10-2pm. There’s no need to book, just head to the centre’s foyer and sit down for a chat with one of our Business Advisors and let us know how we can help you.
